Foothill's best and brightest
(Geoffrey, Ariana, Jessica, Sarah, Alex, David)
Just shortly into summer vacation, we got some great news! Geoffrey was going to be recognized by the Superintendent of the Kern High School District for graduating #1 in his class!! Foothill had 6 kids tie for this honor (all were Geoffrey's friends) and they all were going to be recognized. Last night we attended the recognition ceremony. It was a really nice event. It was all provided with private funds. Since the KHSD is a public instituion, it can't reward a small group, so they seek donations from businesses in the community to honor these students. They did not disappoint. The evening began with a lovely reception with fabulous food--bacon-wrapped dates, coconut shrimp, chocolate dipped strawberries, just to name a few. Then it was followed by a ceremony to recognize all 55 students in the district that achieved the "First in Class" status. Each student was presented with a plaque that stated their honor and each one also received a $1000 scholarship. In addition, each students' parents were also presented a plaque to commemorate their child's achievement. They also took a photo of each family as they received their awards. It was a really great evening. And it reminded yet again of what a great son the Lord has blessed us with!!
