Party Time!!

This was a weekend full of birthday celebrations!

Eric's 1st birthday

We began the weekend by celebrating Eric's 40th birthday with a BBQ. We invited family and close friends. He wanted to pretend it wasn't happening and I wasn't down with that! So we compromised and had a small "non-party" party (except I didn't really follow the rules). Our celebration consisted of barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs. Something easy and very kid-friendly. And the birthday boy requested no gifts, cards only. And I'm sure his favorite part of the whole evening were the cards that the "little girls" made for him. These are the girls of our close friends the Madrids and DeCarlos from church. And do they love "Mr. Eric." Their cards were priceless. I know he will treasure them always!! Even the one that said he was 80 :) Then we concluded the evening with the usual "burning down the house" ceremony complete with song. And may I just say that this was the best rendition of "Happy Birthday" that has ever been sung!! It's great when a room full of musicians sing! And then we shared all of Eric's favorite desserts-chocolate cheesecake, cinnamon streusel cake and homemade vanilla ice cream. Yum!!

Next was Geoffrey's turn.

Geoffrey's 1st birthday

We had a much smaller group for his 19th birthday on Sunday. It was really nice having him home. We didn't have big plans this year-I think he's saving it up for next year! We went to church in the morning, out for a steak lunch (his request) and then back to the house for dessert in the afternoon. He wanted Butterfinger ice cream pie for his birthday dessert. Everyone was happy to share! :) We had one of his videos playing when people arrived and it was really fun to hear people's reactions to the memories as they came in. Boy was he cute when he was little!

His birthday lunch-steak!!

Blowing out the candles before the ice cream melts!

He has really grown into a handsome, capable, confident, young man! We look forward to what else the Lord has in store for him!!

On a side note-here's a great photo of those that got the "green memo!"

My husband is STILL talking about the "best Happy Birthday song" he's ever heard! That was good times. Sorry we missed Geoffrey's day!
