Kymberli's 17th birthday

OK, let me first say "What the heck happened!?" I can't believe she is already 17! And when I think that she is only one birthday away from going to college-my head (and my heart) really start to hurt. Enough of that...let's get to the celebration!

Her birthday fell on a Friday so we went out to dinner that night with Grandma and Grandpa. She loves teppan yaki so that's what she chose. And she loves to get mochi (ice cream wrapped in a marshmellow-like coating).

She also wanted to have a party this year. So she invited about 10 kids to the house on Saturday to play soccer, XBox Kinect and eat. Pretty easy, if you ask me. And she did want a theme this year. She chose Despicable Me. Her favorite movie of the year. And since there are not too many party supplies of that movie, we had to be creative. Thankfully, due to the internet, we found people that had already done the brain work, so all we had to do was copy :) We made our own invitations (with the graphic below), used blue and yellow paper goods and made minions (the sidekicks in the movie) out of Twinkies!

She also had other snacks and we barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs. She and her friends had a great time. The Kinect really entertained them. And boy were they sore and tired when they were finished. It was a great evening for her. And one of her friends gave her the greatest gift...her own minion!!

She had a great 2 days of celebrating. I am really pleased and proud of the young woman she is becoming! I can hardly wait to see what the Lord has in store for her!! :)
