I wouldn't have believed you if you told me...

On April 1, 2008, we were down to only one dog. Daisy was the only pet left at our house. If you would have told me then that 2 years later we would be back up to 2 dogs and 1 cat I would have told you that you were crazy!! The plan had always been that once the current round of pets went to "pet heaven", they would not be replaced. A downsizing, of sorts. Obviously that is not the case. Dandelion entered our life last August and has been a constant bundle of energy ever since. And now meet our newest addition...GUS!

How can you resist that sweet face?! Eric found him in a rain gutter on top of a roof on Tuesday. He is not really a cat lover, but even he could not leave him there to die or even hasten the process (much to Kymberli's delight!). So home he came. Since he was probably one week old when we found him, he requires a lot of time and attention. Bottle feeding and making him go potty take up most of our time these days. And we are still anxiously waiting for his eyes to open :)

Kymberli has taken to this responsibility willingly. She does most of the feeding and pottying duties. And she has not once complained about having to set an alarm for 3 or 4 am to feed the kitty. Our animal lover is showing her compassion and love for animals in her devotion to her "baby."

The dogs have taken to him well. Daisy comes and sniffs at him and usually walks away. Dandelion is the most curious since she is still a baby herself (9.5 mos old). She wants to be in his face and sniffing him all over any chance she gets. We have to keep a close eye on her as she sometimes gets a little to rough. But, all in all, she is doing really well.

We are now back to a full house of animals. Ask me in a few months if this is a good thing. But I know one person in this house who has never been happier...:)
